Privacy Policy

The short version: Unwaver keeps your challenge, food log, health data and progress photos on your iPhone. We don't have accounts, we don't show ads, and we never sell data. If you turn on the AI features, the photo or text you give them is sent, through our server, to Anthropic's Claude to answer you.

What stays on your iPhone

Your challenge, tasks, streaks, food log, recipes, body measurements, notes and progress photos are stored on your device (and in your own iCloud device backup, if you use it). We can't see them.

Apple Health

With your permission, Unwaver reads workouts, steps, sleep, weight and body composition from Apple Health, and saves the water you log to Apple Health. Health data is used only inside the app to check off your tasks and show your progress. It is never used for advertising, never sold, and never shared, except as described under AI features when you choose to use them.

AI features (Unwaver Pro)

Snap a meal, Describe a meal, the Coach, and reading labels, recipes and screenshots use Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic. Unwaver asks for your permission first, and you can turn this off anytime in Settings › AI & privacy.

What's sent: only when you use one of those features: the photo or text you provide, plus the information it needs to answer you (for example today's food log, your goals, weight, sleep and challenge progress).
How: encrypted, through Unwaver's server, to Anthropic. Our server does not store the content. It keeps only a daily request count tied to an anonymous subscription number, to apply fair-use limits.
Anthropic: processes it to produce the answer. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API data isn't used to train its models; Anthropic may keep it for a limited time for safety and abuse monitoring. See anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
AI results are estimates. They are not medical, dietary or professional advice.

Subscriptions

Payments are handled by Apple. We never see your name, email or payment details. To unlock features, our server asks Apple whether a subscription number is active.

Oura

If you connect an Oura Ring, Unwaver signs in with Oura and reads your sleep. Your Oura sign-in is stored in your iPhone's Keychain. Our server only relays the one-time sign-in exchange and does not keep your Oura tokens or data.

Food databases

When you search for a food or scan a barcode, the search words or barcode number are sent to the USDA FoodData Central database (through our server) and to Open Food Facts. No personal information is attached.

What we don't do

No accounts, no ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, no analytics SDKs.
We don't sell or rent data, and we don't share it for advertising.

Children

Unwaver is not directed to children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Your choices and deleting data

You can turn off AI features in Settings › AI & privacy, revoke Apple Health access in the Health app, and disconnect Oura in Settings. Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on your iPhone. Because we don't keep your content on our server, there's nothing else to delete; for questions, contact us.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
